Next "Oppenheimer Moment" for Humanity

The "Oppenheimer moment" is not only a historical term referring to the origins of nuclear weapon. Today, it's a cultural metaphor, reminding us, people of the 21st century, of our responsibility for the development of artificial intelligence.  In this sense Christopher Nolan used the term during a panel discussion following the premiere of his film "Oppenheimer." I used it with the same meaning in this work.

When we ask about responsibility we ask about ethics. However,  today we lack the appropriate analytical tools. The classical ethical paradigm is now completely outdated. This book presents a new approach to ethics, focusing on how to apply it to the practical problems of life in the digital age. For the next “Oppenheimer moment” to have any significance, we need a new ethical framework and a fresh perspective on human morality.

The fundamental problem with the classical paradigm is that it is limited to an individual perspective. This book attempts to synthesise individual and collective factors in order to develop the ethics of teamwork. If we want to interact effectively with intelligent machines, we must first learn to cooperate with each other.
