Aje (witches) are spiritually powerful being in Yoruba traditional society. Aje can build and as well mar the fortune of any person as believed in our culture. Yoruba people have the belief that Aje (witches) are three categories; Aje dudu (black witches) that are malevolent, Aje pupa (Red witches) that are perceived to be deadly and killed at will and the last categories is Aje funfufn (white witches), they are calm and benevolent. Aje (witches) are powerful beings to the extent of bi- locating and as well see what goes on in another place even when they are physically not present there. 95% of women possess this energy while 5% are men. Men with this energy are called Oso (wizard). The investigation showed that among those with this energy, only people with Aje funfun (white witches) are found to be merciful, ready to assist, they do not kill and willing to forgive their victims. The finding also indicated that black witches and red witches are mostly women. Aje dudu (black witches) can forgive their victims after subjecting them to pain for a period of time while Aje pupa (red witches) will never forgive but kill directly.
