Poems under the first section (The Dirty Game) are basically informed by the political dilemma that grips the African continent after independence like neocolonialism, corruption and the wave of violence /wars (be they offensive or defensive).
Those under the second section (Nature and Nurture) deal with environmental issues. That the environment is under threat because of human activities is common knowledge. These poems paint an apocalyptic and grisly picture of the devastation of the environment through man’s activities and its vindictive nature through disasters like floods and drought. On a positive note, some poems praise the environmental beauty of Africa or the wonders of the world that Africa possesses.
Poems under section three deal with the complexity of life. Certain happenings in life cannot be explained by logic or reason. Life is portrayed as being punctuated with different challenges like bereavement, accidents and the like.
Those of section four deal with the indispensability of love in human nature.
