The book entitled "Romanian arms industry – past, present and future" constitutes the sustainability plan adapted to the current needs of the Romanian arms industry and has as main objective the identification of opportunities specific to the arms market using methods specific to predictive analysis. The main goal was to identify the dysfunctions at the level of the Romanian defense industry and formulate proposals that would be prerequisites for the recovery of this strategic industrial sector for Romania, including in the context of the current global crisis generated by the spread of COVID-19 (caused by the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2). An important aspect that was addressed in the scientific work was the highlighting of the main benchmarks for the control of exports of military products, the main normative regulations governing external trade operations with such products, in order to avoid violations of embargoes and restrictive measures imposed by certain international organisations to which Romania is member (e.g. UN, NATO, EU), respectively by certain states with which Romania has concluded agreements in this respect (e.g. the US). At the same time, in view of the recent crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, an analysis was carried out on its possible impact at the level of the defense industry, both at international and national level, and the main areas that will be affected by this crisis were mentioned. At the end of the scientific work, the systemic dysfunctions of the domestic defense industry were highlighted and possible solutions were formulated for the recovery and efficiency of this strategic sector, particularly important for national security and for the Romanian economy.
