The central point of this book is to make the case that life is a process and that, for the most part; human society is led through an uncertain process for development. The resolution of some significant life’s issues required a process of trial and error, experimentation, social learning, creativity, imagination, moral contract, relational accountability, etc. There is no one culture or person who knows it all or has all the answers to all human problems. Our hope is in the community’s resources and community’s intelligence based on networking. Drawing on Aristotle’s idea of phronesis (practical wisdom), Hans-Georg Gadamer’s fusion of horizons or public discourse, Martin Buber’s I-Thou relations, Gilles Paquet’s relational accountability or scheming virtuously, the book emphasizes the importance of community resources, networked intelligence, and ongoing public discourse. It explores themes of collaborative governance, personhood, freedom and hermeneutics of hope, interpersonal relations, and human rights, structured in four parts that cover topics ranging from Canadian integration to African hermeneutic philosophy.
