Spermine is a vital biomarker for clinical diagnosis of cancer and estimating food spoilage. This book highlights the attempt to develop a simple, efficient, and portable method for detecting spermine using red and near-infrared (NIR) active dipod–SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate) self-assemblies. The goal is to enable “turn-on” fluorescence-based quantification of spermine in complex matrices like serum, urine, and foods like cheese, mushrooms, chicken and mutton. The study emphasizes the use of smartphones to capture and analyze fluorescence signals. This approach makes the technology accessible and practical for on-site testing.
